Ambassador Oguntade is the current Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. He commenced his career as a court clerk at the High Court of Justice in Oyo State and in 1980 was appointed a Judge at the Lagos High Court after working in private practice at the Lagos Bar for 14 years. Between 1987 and 2004, George served as Presiding Justice for several State Court of Appeal in Nigeria until his appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2004 and retired in 2010.

Ambassador Oguntade obtained a LL.B (Hons) degree from the University of London and further completed his studies at the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1966.

He is the serving Chancellor of the Lagos State University's Governing Council and has been conferred with high Nigerian national honors including the Commander of the Niger (C.O.N) and Commander of the Federal Republic.

In addition to serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of IRM Ltd, Justice Oguntade also sits on the board of several blue chip companies in Africa.
